A few things:
Linux can run perfectly without Windows underneath it.
Dell sells computers with Ubuntu.
Reasonable Linux alternatives don’t “snap into existence.”

By the last couple of sentences in your post it appears like you have never even tried Linux (but, I’m sure you have). I have been Windows free for years and am perfectly happy with Ubuntu.

u can not compare windows with linux.

they are for two different things.

windows’ main purpose is to help the point and click crowd be productive, while linux is for the crufty hackers to be productive.

so using linux as a replacement for windows will be fraught with frustration especially with non-programmers.

plus, the “game machine” linx distro isn’t happening cos of hardware issues, both license and software related.
