on MS vs Unix, and MS marketing tactics:

Scalability is the keyMuch of this analysis consists of splitting hairs over the finer details of decisions that were made at the very dawn of the computer IT industry.
So Microsoft leveraged their success with DOS off of mainframe systemssuch as the CP/M ? Clunky old machines with green screens and keyboards so big and  heavy that they are physically impossible totype on. I remember them well.
That was then - lets fast forward now to 2007. Computers are so muchfaster, graphics cards are 3D capable, the keyboards are easier touse, and the mouse  makes life a breeze.
And we have the internet - 99% of which runs on Internet Explorer.
How can you be so blind as to say that Microsoft has not given us any innovation ? I find that comment simply astounding !! You cant honestly suggest that we  would be better off using the CPM machineson a mainframe ?
On the surface there are many obvious innovations .. such as a graphical system with a mouse, the Office, not to mention the internet that is basically a  totally Microsoft platform these days .. (need I go on ?)
But if you care to look below the obvious surface, you will find the true innovation that Microsoft has bought us. Let me spell it out for you :
SCALABILITY
The ability to extend performance above and beyond the ordinary. Thats the true innovation that Microsoft has bought to the world, and they have done it by  redefining software engineering, and backing it with billions of dollars.
Who else has been able to do this ? Nobody that I can see.

I am assuming this site is a farce. But, in the off chance it is not, I will fill you in on a little information. Your site has made its way to the techs in schools in the state of Arkansas. Believe it or not, our state network is used as a model in other states. We are no dummies. You have given us all a good laugh. Now, lets talk about Linux. Linux IS a complete operating system. If it could be accused of stealing from anyone, It would be UNIX. Linux has about as much in common with Windows as horses have with a V8 engine. They are entirely different approaches to personal computing. While linux does strive to be as compatible with M$ software as possible, saying it steals the intellectual property of bill gates is uninformed at the least, and even possibly slanderous. Research your opinions before trying to pass them off to others as fact! Wow. Go to College. Get educated. Get a life.

So microsoft runs the internet now? Hmm. Good to know. I’ll send my check right away

    hi there !
I`m not a apple fan, every1 should work on, what`s he prefers, but just to correct you a lil’ bit, because you`re so terrible wrong in many so called “facts”:

“..many obvious innovations .. such as a graphical system with a mouse…”
both inventions by apple - so sorry, but no credit to microsoft there

    “… the office…”
ughm, the first tablecalculation program … run on a apple macintonsh,
which was basically the heart of the office package back then

and last but not least, I´m afraid the worldpopulation would disagree with you, when you really think microsoft has given us scalability. The only thing we received from ms is a really colorful but unstable and insecure operating system.

so, yes (pretty yes with sugar on top) please go on, and write some other non-fact-based articles just out of your mind.

happy to be entertained by you and your bs :)

Man, you’ve got that right Jerry. Innovation and scalability are the names of the games. Thankfully, there are two things that let me sleep soundly at night - Bush in the Whitehouse and Microsoft on my computer.

Upgrading to Vista has been for me a dream come true. Every time I boot my beloved Dell I can just feel the scalability. Clearly performance above and beyond.

Yeah, I remember CP/M and mainframes too, even minicomputers. Just terrible. All those switches and lights and noise. Seriously, every night I get down on my knees and thank Gates that we’re done with than nonsense.

Keep up the good work spreading truth and the American Way Jerry. It’s great to see that Rush isn’t the only one who is right.

You say you’ve found the KeyMuch of the analysis in the factor of scalability especially in contradistinction to the Apple. Leonard Euler proved this a long time ago when he showed that the sum of the integers Z = 1/12. That Z was also found in the Zilog Z80. It all depends on what scalability you happen to choose - Fahrenheit produces different results to Ohms and it follows from this that C/PM (the C stands for Celcius) produces different results again. Its all relative. It is no coincidence that the symbol for Ohms is omega, the last letter of the Greek alphabet, just as Z is the last letter of the American alphabet. C/PM runs just fine on Vista but ‘Linux’ DRM prevents it from functioning. I have been in computer administration for many years and I have had to wipe ‘Linux’ from many of my chips when they showed signs of being corrupted. A sure indicator is purple smoke from the internets.

If this blog is a joke, thanks for the laugh…IF not then

Thank you for keeping me and my friends employed. Why every reader that agrees with you is more profit for us in the Tech land. You know…Real techs, that have real knowledge regarding technology. Seriously it is people like you and the people that read this wonderful blog that help keep the tech repair industry alive.

I have personally reformatted every HD (thats hard drive for you) that had vista, and installed XP instead.

Vista is a disaster. Is not x2 fast, in fact it is 30% slower. Especially in gaming. It uses x2 the page file.

Linux is a complete Operating System and nothing of windows is required. End of story. You’re just wrong.

The only thing I would suggest you add or recommend on this blog is AOL installs for everyone.

  7. Believer Says:

All you people who say this is a joke, when the Second Coming (Vista) takes over, you will burn (Blu-Ray) in Hell(your pirated vista that you call “Linux”). Then when you are in JAIL you will know my name is the LORD(Bill Gates), when I lay my vengence upon thee(Microsoft vs. The People, Copyright Infringement).

Apple didn’t invent them either. They “borrowed” the idea from Xerox, who probably also “borrowed” it from someone else.

Wow, this is really a hilareous website. Good that I was alone in the office today, I couldn’t stop laughing! Super that someone took the initiative of collecting these gems :) Even the comments are funny. Well, I had my laugh, back to business

  11. WhoGates Says:

Ha HA Jerry your about as smart as they come !!! Thanks for the laugh maybe one day when even you can figure out how to even install linux then maybe you shall open your mouth.. Personally I think Gates is about as big as a rip off then anyone person I know not only did he steal his ideas on MS he bought one of linux’s OS SUSE and I don’t know how many of you have noticed this or not but doesn’t VISTA look a lot like hmmmm linux????? I think I’ll stick to Linux ty

    Hello,

I think if Jerry’s post is joke and if not, he must have hadan amnesia or he was in coma so he remembers green mainframe terminals and after that only Microsoft Windows XP and Vista… Or did we have a mission to Mars during this period?
