giving Linux a try

Hey, I’m new here. A while ago I tried to talk to a bunch of people on another board and they were telling me Linux is not a Windows program. I’m here to prove them wrong. I found your site out on the Internet from a college friend and he said hackers know more about Linux than most.
Well, he also said to get Lindows because it’s the easiest to understand. So I downloaded the file and tried to run it. Didn’t work. I burned it to a disk and it wouldn’t install like it said it would. I’ve seen it on his computer and I had something like it called Windows Blinds, so I think I’m on the right track.

giving Linux a try II
Thanks guys. You all gave a better explaination than others. I liked the wikipedia article, btw. Yeah, someone found my posting on ZDNet… thanks.

I’m a linux developer. I would like to know the crack you are smoking so I can burn the last of it so you can get it through your head. Linux is an operating system. It works. Congrats douchedip I’m using it right now. Have you ever heard of firefox? or do you still use internet explorer? If you use the latter, you are not worth my time. By the way, you’re also the laughingstock of the internet right now. You’ve heard of the internet right? Yeah, it works too. http://www.ubuntu.com <–thats linux, learn about what you’re talking about before you say another word dumb ass. Please email me when you get a clue

    >Linux is an operating system. It works
No it does not. I am tired of raw newbies who have learned a little HTML suddenly considering themselves experts. That springbound little book that comes in the operating system box along with the chips and connectors - read it - its called ‘The Manual’. I sincerely doubt that you have ever used a soldering iron, so how can you claim to have installed ‘Linux’ chips onto your Windows. The fact is that ‘Linux’ needs to be installed on a Windows even to work - otherwise it does not even have a power supply.

    >_<

Erikk, that has got to be the funniest thing I have read in a long time. I just hope you were joking. If not… then seriously… how do people like you (And Jerry) still exist? My parents understand what linux is. Sure, they don’t know how to use or install it, but they understand it is an Operating System. A piece of software. No physical pieces to install. You crack me up fella.

  7. Dim Says:

Erikk, you are my hero! without a soldering iron, there is absolutely no way to install linux onto windows, and that’s a fact!

I am repeating myself, but this blog is the best advertisement Linux can have. M$ supporters being shown as complete idiots - that’s the way to go!

  8. Nix Says:

Remember, every time you install a Linux system, God kills a penguin.

    Please, think of the penguins.

  9. Ben Says:

Oh, so that explains why I’m not getting my viruses and malware…I forgot to solder a Windows chip onto my motherboard! I assume they can just go anywhere…

  10. RMS Says:

You’re right, linux is not an operating system, it’s a kernel. GNU is an operating system.

    pwned.

Wow! i just googled jerry lee in “images” and got a dork pic.

Linux a kernel - Hah!! Hitler was a kernel and so is Gafdai. See where it got them. Talk about promoting Linux.

Linux is in fact a kind of co-processor like the Intel 8087. It is entirely dependent on te Windows API for word processing and the internets functionality.

RMS - what kind of name is that? Root mean square - i suppose i’m supposed to imply from that that you have some technical knowledge - Hah!!
